Upcoming Events

August 7, 2010, The Air Quilt Workshop

This will be a free event and she will have a sign up sheet at the June and July meeting.  You'll need:

1 1/2 yards of large scale print or prints (may combine a variety of prints as long as background  colors match)

Or use panel print (use 2 panels) one to be cut up and the other in the Birds in Air blocks

1-2 yards of accent fabric (complimentary fabric)

Trangles or other method of making 2" finished half triangles

(Patty will have some Triangle sheets available to sell)

Everyone should be ready for a fun day of cutting, piecing and designing their very own "Birds In The Air" blocks.  Quilting is not for the birds but for us.

May 18–Aug 8: Hawaii’s Alfred Shaheen: Fabric to Fashion

The first major retrospective exhibition of Hawaiian textiles and
aloha wear manufactured by Alfred Shaheen on the island of Oahu over a 40-year period.

Also opening is Grand Applique: Hawaiian Quilts, featuring traditional Hawaiian appliqued quilts made and designed by master quilter Carol Kamaile.

A third Hawaiian-inspired exhibition opening is Wendeanne Ke’aka Stitt: Contemporary Kapa, a selection of contemporary works by the Santa Cruz artist that draws inspiration from the Hawaiian kapa cloth tradition (a native textile made from the bast fibers of certain
species of trees and shrubs).
