Mystery Quilt for the New Year (Part 2)

Step 3: Make Quarter-Square Blocks

 Quarter Square

Cut 4 5/8" squares: 9 each of SP & A1, 18 of A2
Half Square

Pair each SP and A1 with an A2, then stitch ¼" from both sides of pressed line.
Cut along marked line. Press seam allowance towards darkest fabric.

Pair A1+A2 with A2+SP, matching seams.

Half Square   +   Half Square
 
Quarter Square

Press diagonal fold. Stitch ¼" from both sides of pressed line.
Cut along marked line.
Press seam allowance towards one side.

 Trim to 3½" raw edge to raw edge.

(You should have 36 finished Quarter-Square blocks.)
